ORIGINAL ARTICLES
Submission of original articles is always free. Publication of such articles is also free (except for Freelance writers, who can negotiate free or paid publication). In addition, from our own resources, we are also happy to cover some or all of the additional processes and expenses, which are related to reviewing and processing the received manuscripts. Our level of contribution will depend on the level of the Authors' willingness and ability to cooperate with our Redaction, as shown in the table below:
Each manuscript is assigned to a separate CRICKETT Workgroup. This unit is responsible for coordinating and executing all tasks related to the manuscript analysis, revisions, approvals, and preparation for publication. Authors can choose how deeply they want to be involved in all this. There are three degrees of collaboration:
Workgroup Guest - The Authors fully cooperate with the Workgroup, externally, and follow the instructions given, in full and without substantial errors. This mode allows our Redaction to minimize expenses on our side, and we can offer a completely free process, starting from the manuscript submission up to its successful publication. The process can begin immediately, as far as our capacities allow this.
Workgroup Supporter - The Authors who themselves, or anybody on their behalf, support the Publisher with their kind monetary sponsorship (non-refundable donations). Gifts can be accepted and processed very seamlessly. Thus, releasing us from bureaucracy, and hence letting us to dedicate more time to running our non-profit journal - and running it inexpensively, with more time to assist the Authors with their manuscript processing. No invoices or payment receipts are provided by us, but both the sponsors as well as our Redaction will have their proofs of payment recorded in their banking systems or the payment gateways used. The editorial process can begin immediately, as long as our capacities allow this.
Workgroup Correspondent - This option is for Authors who need an official invoice prior to making their payment, and/or the official receipt after their payment is received by us. The Workgroup membership fee for the official position as the Correspondent includes all associated administrative burdens and the overhaul of formal procedures and resources needed to operate in this manner. In adherence with the national and international laws and regulations, the editorial process will typically not start earlier than 7 months or more after all personal data are processed in accordance with the GDPR principles, and after the payment is processed, and after all other prerequisites are legally cleared by our back-office administrators. This slow process is good for Authors who do not need rapid publication (for example, Knowledge articles or post-publication reviews).
POST-PUBLICATION REVIEWS
After the original article is published (in CRICKETT or in any other journal), there is an option available with CRICKETT to start a public re-evaluation of its contents. All retrospective comments (submitted as Telegrams, Images, or Spotlights by volunteering readers and/or the original Authors themselves) are merged into a single document, called the Addendum, which can be published under a separate title, with all contributors listed as co-authors. The following fees apply:
Supporters and Correspondents are the Workgroup collaborators explained in the previous chapter. They can operate under three different scenarios / in three different roles during the post-publication review (a single person or team can submit multiple contributions in one or more roles):
Revised Re-Publication New Co-Author - When the retracted article is being corrected, revised, and prepared for eventual re-publication, the original team of Authors can be reduced or extended. Anybody can submit their proposed contributions to be considered for co-authorship of the new corrected article (but acceptance by the Redaction or by the original Authors is never guaranteed).
Addendum Co-Author - Anybody who openly submits a Telegram, Image, or Spotlight contribution - not aimed for a separate publication, but instead, intended for inclusion into the growing Addendum - can be added as a Co-Author of this newly forming critical document. Redundant contributions (repeating what is already included in the Addendum) will be rejected or ignored. Contributions redundant in terms of the conveyed message, but adding more citations, will be accepted and blended with the body text and the global list of references.
Undisclosed Critic - A contributor like the above Addendum Co-Author, but opting for an anonymous commenting role. The Redaction will not disclose the Critic's identity, but their contribution will still be inserted into the Addendum, in full and "as is" (although the citations can be re-arranged to match the concept of the Addendum as a whole). Such inserts can be analyzed and commented by the Addendum Authors, positively or negatively, but the Authors cannot remove the insertions or the bibliographic references contained therein. Anonymous insertions will be cited as anonymous sources "in extenso", and the relevant parts of their reference lists will be merged with the final reference list of the updated Addendum.
Remarks about bibliographic references: All three types of post-publication reviewers can suggest bibliographic references for inclusion into the Addendum or into the revised to-be-republished manuscript, respectively. To discourage and minimize coercive citation attempts, the maximum number of suggested references is limited in certain cases (the Max. Ref. column in the table above). The comment "in text limits" means that the quantity of suggested citations is not limited by a certain defined number, but merely by the limits for the article length. In other words, the Authors can suggest as many citation as they see fit, as far as they stay within the text size limits set forth for the respective type of article.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
Fees or various waiver statuses are not logistically connected with, and do not influence, the editorial decision making.
